Solaris is a local group dedicated to the environment; we focus on educating and informing the community about environmental issues and solutions. The group focuses on making the community a better place while preserving our natural spaces for a healthy environment.
Solaris believes that everyone should be aware of the current issues that threaten our planet. We mainly concentrate our efforts for local communities but we also encourage the public to engage in issues that exist in the greater society. Weather is local, national or global issues we are here to inform you on what each individual can do to make a difference and help brighten the future.
In these pages there are various resources to help you live well and most importanly to have little impact in the environment. It is critical that we observe our daily habits closely if we are to prosper in terms of reducing our carbon emmissions. The overall goal of this organization is to inspire people, to think about how they live their lives, and find better ways to use the resources that we have.
The name occured to me as I thought of the northern star Polaris. This star is the closest and brightest star to the North Pole. To me it all made sense as I thought about our polar star which is bright and beautiful and when I think of this, I think of the north pole; bright, a dazzling white frozen world that is rapidly melting due to warmer globe temperatures.
Then I thought of our Sun, such a wonderful resource, such colossal star which is the reason for all living things. In essence everything in this earth is interconnected, we are all made of universal matter, this is when Solaris came to be and now we will lead our lives and our world in the right direction so we can see a brighter tomorrow.
